Advent Traditions

Advent means “coming.” It is a time to stop, listen, and pray about the real meaning of Christmas. We spend time preparing our hearts and our lives as we wait for the coming of Jesus. We remember the promise that God made to his people and how that promise was fulfilled in Jesus. The season begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas and ends on the day before Christmas.
We are invited into Advent in the hope that it marks a new beginning for us as Christians.

A stocking should hang for each family member, and appropriate small gifts placed inside by other members over the course of Advent preparations.
